23.06.09 - Safe Host Announces the Success of its Managed Virtual Server Services
Plans-les-Ouates, Geneva – 23rd June, 2009 – As part of its program to increase the efficient use of IT systems, Safe Host has successfully implemented a server virtualization program for a number of its customers bringing substantive cost savings and ease of management to their systems.
Safe Host’s virtual server service gives customers the functionality of a dedicated server at a fraction of the cost. A virtual private server is functionally equal to a dedicated server but can be more cost-effective and has several operational advantages.
Resources used by the Virtual Machine (CPU and memory) are monitored by Safe Host and regularly reported so that decisions can be taken to increase resources to improve performance, or even reduce them. Resources, such as disk space, memory or CPU, can be adjusted on demand.
Servers can be set up very quickly by cloning an existing Virtual Machine, by using templates, or by deploying one of VMware’s many virtual appliances available free of charge on its website.
For development servers, a server can be prepared as a clone of a production machine, even if the machine is running on dedicated hardware. A snap-shot can be taken of a server before a major modification or upgrade to allow a fast return to the previous state.
